Trash 2 Trends Results

Once again this year, the Kiowa County High School Art Class, under the direction of Mrs. Lori Wade, participated in the Trash 2 Trends competition in St. John. The Trash 2 Trends event is a competition sponsored by BC Emery Photography of St. John, and it was held on Wednesday, November 2, this year. Students are tasked with creating the most unique outfits from recycled items that can be found in their community. Schools within 100 miles of St. John are invited to participate. This year, there were a total of 33 submission across the different categories. Overall, Kiowa County High School came home in 1st place with the designs that the students created. The categories, and the student placings, are as follows:

In the FASHION TRENDS category, Senior Bear Alvarez come home in 1st place with her Native American Dress. Bear is shown modeling her outfit.

Senior Jaucilyn Arredondo finished in 3rd place in the FASHION TRENDS category with her Black/Purple Goth Pants. Junior Jason Brown was the model for Jaucilyn's design.

Senior Korbyn Brown finished in 5th place in the FASHION TRENDS category with her Burlap Pants and Zippers. The design was completed in. total of 3 hours! Junior Atleigh Gumpenberger is shown modeling Korbyn's design.

Senior Jaucilyn Arredondo also finished in 6h place in the FASHION TRENDS category with her Black/Purple Goth Dress. Senior Korbyn Brown was the model for this outfit.

In the CHALLENGING MATERIALS category, Sophomore Myra Kurth finished in a tie for 2nd place with her Money Suit. Sophomore Audrey Bunce is shown modeling Myra's design.

Sophomore Brooklyn Gilchrist finished in a tie for 5th place in the CHALLENGING MATERIALS category with her Balloons and Bags Dress. Brooklyn's design is being model by Senior Liberty Gilkey.

In the COSTUMES category, Senior Karina Martinez finished in 3rd place with her dress made of an old billboard and broken CD's. Karina is shown modeling her design.

Senior Alex Redecop placed 7th in the COSTUMES category with her dress made for a silk painting that she created. Alex is shown modeling her design.
