Seventh Graders Earn Hunter Education Cards

Mackenzie H. and Hannah D. using the Laser Shot Hunter Safety Program under the assistance of Ed Augustine.

    During the week of May 2-9, the entire 7th grade class at Kiowa County Junior High went through the official Kansas Hunter Education Program under the instruction of junior high teacher, Kirk Miller. All of the 7th grade students took the course and test and were given their hunter education card. They are now eligible to purchase a Kansas Hunting License when they turn 16.  

    Students received training in firearms safety, hypothermia and boating safety, ethics and wildlife laws and wildlife management. 

    Special guests included:  Matt Hanvey (Wildlife Conservation Officer), Dan Heskett (Kansas Boating Director) and Monica Biggerstaff (Kansas Hunter Education Coordinator).
