Kiowa County JAG just completed it's second year at the Jr. High and High School level. JAG, or Job's for America's Graduates, is an organization that helps students prepare for life after High School. The first goal is of course graduation. From there the students are trained in job, academic, and social skills that will help them to be successful. Through assessment tests, skills evaluation, and other measures a student can find what they are good at, mix it with what they love to do, and ultimately map out a course that will allow them to reach goals that they set.
Last year the Kiowa County JAG program received awards from the state level. This year Kiowa County JAG received national recognition. The national JAG organization awarded Kiowa County Specialist, Brad Lingafelter with the "JAG Outstanding Specialist" based on performance goals. The HS portion of JAG was awarded with the highest honor that JAG has-- The "5 of 5" award. This award is given to schools that exceed performance outcomes in the areas of; Graduation Rate, Employment Rate, Positive Outcome Rate, Full-Time Jobs Rate, and Full-Time Placement Rate.
Mr. Lingafelter also received a plaque for this honor.
Anna Silva, JAG Regional Manager for Western Kansas, had this to say-- "Mr Lingafelter has done an incredible job working with the students at Kiowa County. The relationship he has built with the students in his program is key. I look forward to the innovative ways he will continue to help each student reach their greatest potential. Also, congratulations to the tremendous JAG students of Kiowa County for representing our state in such fine fashion!"
