KCHS Students Receive Gold Key Award for Art Exhibition
Eastern Kansas Scholastic Art Awards Exhibition. Six senior art students entered 18 pieces of art in the Scholastic Art competition.
This exhibition showcases select artwork from 70 Kansas counties. The Scholastic Art Awards are the largest and longest-running recognition program for young artists in the US. Participants, supported by their art teacher and community mentors, create and submit their best works of art. Each work is reviewed by a panel of art professionals for originality, technical skill and the emergence of personal vision.
Haleigh Raber and Jaylene McKinley created a formal dress from strips of magazines and Barnes and Noble bags. Raber entered this unconventional dress in the Scholastic Art Awards competition and was awarded the Gold Key. The dress will be on display February 1 through March 23 at the Mary R. Koch Arts Center in Wichita, KS. An awards ceremony for Gold Key winners will be held on March 23 at 3:00pm at the MARK Arts Center in Wichita.
