Jobs for Americas Graduates (JAG)

Vision Statement
JAG students and graduates are capable of extraordinary accomplishments once they realize the future relevance of what they are learning and will exceed expectations when challenged and stimulated.  JAG graduates can and will change the world!

Mission Statement
To help students overcome barriers to graduation from high school and become college and career ready as well as develop future leaders for families, employers, communities, states and the nation!

Course Description
Students will develop employability skills that will result in either a quality job leading to a career after graduation, or enrollment in a post-secondary education and training program.  Students will complete lessons and activities in accordance with a nationally established JAG curriculum and competencies.

JAG-K - (Jobs for America's Graduates - Kansas)
Is a career exploration and preparation course that provides a hands-on approach to exploring personal strengths and challenges as well as job attainment skills and work place "survival" skills.  Students will work to build strengths in academic areas, time management, and communication.  Individual and team project work will help students come to an understanding of their personality and temperament and the relationship between personal actions and the consequences that follow.  Students will make connections to their career interests, abilities, and aptitudes by determining their education and career goals through the use of an Individual Development Plan.  This course involves individual assignments, team activities/projects, academic remediation support, service learning opportunities, guest speakers, field trips, and career exploration.  Students will also participate in the JAG-K Career Association in various activities focused on Career and Leadership Development, Service Learning, and Civic/Social Awareness.  JAG-K is a multi-year commitment of support including one year of follow-up beyond high school.
