Mrs. Darling assists a student during a junior high class. One of the newest members to the Ranger family is Jenifer Darling, a 29-year-old teacher fresh out of Northeastern State University in Oklahoma. The teaching job at Greensburg Jr. High is Darling’s first full-time teaching job but not her first experience with the teaching trade. To get her teaching degree, Darling had to work for 3 years as a Para-educator at El Dorado, KS, and for one year as a Para in Tulsa, OK.
Darling loves the small town atmosphere. When she saw an opening in her two favorite subjects, Math and History, she saw a great job opportunity. Darling said, “I enjoy teaching at Greensburg Jr. High. It is everything I expected and more.”
At Greensburg Jr. High, Darling teaches 6th grade Social Studies, 7th grade Math and Social Studies, 8th grade Math and Social Studies and Consumer Math for both 7th and 8th grades.
Darling did not live in Greensburg at the time of the tornado, she was studying at the time, but she is very observant of the students and their wishes for the town. “From what I have observed, the students, as well as the adults of the town, are very strong for staying and re-building the town,” Darling commented.
Darling has two kids of her own, Alexandria (known as Alex) who is 13 and Tabitha (known as Tabby) who is 5. They both attend Greensburg Schools.
